  • ½ teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Onion Powder
  • Pinch Black Pepper

  • ¼ tsp Liquid Smoke

Instructions

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add oil and swirl around the pan. Add spices and stir using a wooden spoon, for 1 minute.
  • Add lentils to the pan and stir to coat them with the spices. Let them heat through for about 2 minutes.
  • Add barbecue sauce and molasses to the pan and stir to coat. Let cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, stir in liquid smoke and stir to combine.
  • Serve on buns with slaw, or any way you like!

Notes

  • If you are using a very sweet barbecue sauce, reduce the amount of molasses to 1 ½ teaspoon and go up from there!
