Equipment

  • 1 1 Quart Saucepan
  • 1 Fine Mesh Strainer
  • 1 Matcha Bowl and Whisk or hand-held milk frother!
  • Measuring Cups and Spoons
  • 1 Large Serving Glass

Ingredients

For the Lavender Syrup

  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 4 teaspoon Dried Lavender Flowers see note!

For the Latte

  • 1 teaspoon Matcha Powder
  • ¼ Cup Boiling Water
  • ½ Cup Oat Milk
  • 1 tablespoon Lavender Syrup

Instructions

Make the Lavender Syrup

  • In a 1-quart saucepan, combine sugar, water and dried lavender flowers. Place the pan over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally until the mixture boils. Allow it to boil for 1 minute.
1 Cup Sugar, 1 Cup Water, 4 teaspoon Dried Lavender Flowers
  • Remove the syrup from heat and place a lid on the pot. Allow the lavender to steep for 15 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and pour the mixture into a container through a fine mesh strainer. Use the back of a spoon to press the flowers to release any liquid they are holding onto. Use immediately, or store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Make the Latte

  • Add the matcha powder to a matcha bowl. Pour the boiling water over the matcha and use a matcha whisk to whisk the mixture until its well combined and frothy, about 1 minute. See note.
1 teaspoon Matcha Powder, ¼ Cup Boiling Water
  • In a large glass filled with ice, combine the oat milk and lavender syrup. Stir to combine, then pour the whisked matcha on top. Stir once more, and serve!
½ Cup Oat Milk, 1 tablespoon Lavender Syrup

Notes

Be sure your lavender flowers are culinary grade.  There should be no added flavors or fragrances.
If you don't have a matcha bowl and whisk, use a small glass and a hand-held milk frother to whisk the matcha with the hot water.
You can also make this recipe into a hot Lavender Matcha Latte! Simply warm and froth the oat milk with the lavender syrup instead of pouring it over ice.
