This recipe is easy and delicious way to amp up the flavor of maple syrup. This recipe only requires a few minutes to make and it can be used for pancakes, cocktails, coffee, etc. The flavors of maple syrup and bourbon pair so beautifully- you will make this recipe again and again.
Ingredients
You only need two ingredients and a few minutes to make this recipe! Heres what they are:
Bourbon: Any bourbon will work. I used Makers Mark Makers 46.
Maple Syrup: I like Grade A, dark color because I find it has more flavor. But use what you like.
And thats it!
Method
If you cook on a gas stove, this is important.
First, measure the bourbon into the sauce pan before turning the flame on.
Bourbon is flammable and its dangerous to have the flame on when adding the liquor to the pan.
Then, turn the flame on and bring to a simmer. Boil the bourbon for 1 minute. This cooks the alcohol out.
Next, add the maple syrup.
Now, turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly.
Finally, use it as desired or transfer to an airtight container to store.
Top Recipe Tip
Especially if you cook on a gas stove, cook with liquor safely.
To do so, add the bourbon to the saucepan before the turning the heat on.
Also, Use a bourbon that you would drink! The flavor really comes through here, so you want to make sure you use a bourbon you like.
Uses
There are so many uses for this Bourbon Maple Syrup. Here are my favorites:
Use instead of sugar in an Old Fashioned.
Add instead of honey to a Hot Toddy.
Top pancakes or waffles with it.
Make a bourbon maple latte or cappuccino.
Storage
To store, transfer to an airtight container and keep in the refrigerator for up to three weeks.
I don't recommend freezing this recipe.
