This Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso is like an iced brown sugar latte and takes exactly like Starbucks version! It combines espresso, brown sugar syrup, cinnamon and oat milk for a simple and delicious latte.

I have been very into making fun latte recipes recently. They make mornings just a little more bearable when I know I'm going to make a Cardamom Latte or a Vanilla Matcha Latte, or my current favorite, Lavender Latte.
And today I am sharing a recipe that everyone loves: an Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Oat Milk Espresso. This is my favorite coffee drink to buy myself when I am out and about and need a little treat. But, I wanted to create a recipe so we can all make them in the comfort of our own homes. And this taste exactly like my favorite Starbucks version. So let's make it.

Ingredients
Espresso: Use your favorite espresso and brew it to your machines specifications. Each Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso contains a double shot of brewed espresso, or about 2 ounces.
Brown Sugar: Brown brown sugar syrup only takes 5 minutes to make and can keep in your refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Cinnamon and Cinnamon Sticks: I like to add a cinnamon stick to the syrup and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon in my drink to amp the cinnamon flavor up.
Oatmilk: I love to use oat milk for this recipe because that is what I like to drink and it is what Starbucks uses. But you can use any milk you like.
Special Equipment
You need a way to brew espresso for this recipe. Feel free to use whatever you have like an espresso machine, a moka pot or a Nespresso.
Instructions
Step 1. First, make the brown sugar syrup by combining light brown sugar, water and a cinnamon stick in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Allow the mixture to come to a boil, then boil for 1 minute, or until all the sugar granules have dissolved.
Remove from heat and add the vanilla. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then pour it into a heat-safe container and store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Step 2. Brew the espresso in your brewer of choice. I used a moka pot, but you can use a traditional espresso machine or a Nespresso machine.
Step 3. In a 12oz glass with a tight fitting lid, combine espresso, brown sugar syrup and cinnamon.
Add a few large ice cubes, then place the lid onto the jar and shake vigorously for 15 seconds.
Step 4. Add oat milk into the jar, along with a few more ice cubes.
Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon and enjoy!
Recipe FAQs
Yes! Brown sugar brings out the caramel-y, vanilla notes in coffee. So, if you like those flavors in your coffee, you will love the addition of brown sugar.
It would take many years for brown sugar to actually go bad, but it does get hard as a rock. If your brown sugar is rock solid, make brown sugar syrup with it! It will melt down in water.
My favorite brands of oat milk are Oatly Original Oatmilk and Chobani Original Oat Milk.
Expert Recipe Tips
If you like your latte sweeter, add more brown sugar syrup to your Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso.
Be sure to use a sturdy jar that has a tight-fitting lid, or you will end up with espresso all over the place!
