This Vanilla Matcha Latte is an easy and delicious morning or afternoon drink. It is warm, and vibrantly green and the vanilla bean syrup takes it to the next level!

I love a fun spin on my typical morning latte or matcha. Sometimes I make a Lavender Oat Milk Latte or a Cardamom Latte and in the summer I love an Iced Lavender Matcha.
But lately, I've been all about this Vanilla Matcha Latte. It is simple to make and had a rich, warm vanilla flavor from homemade vanilla bean syrup. And, if you are more into cold drinks, this recipe can easily be an iced matcha latte!

What is Matcha?
Matcha powder is finely ground green tea leaves. The leaves are grown in the shade which causes them to contain more caffeine than other types of tea.
And since its powder, matcha is typically whisked directly into water or milk rather than steeped like other types of green tea.
And since it's powdered, it is perfect for baking Vegan Matcha White Chocolate Chip Cookies and Vegan Matcha Cake!

Ingredient Notes
Matcha Powder: Use a ceremonial-grade matcha powder for the best flavor. I love Naoki Matcha Powder. It delicious in a latte like this or in Matcha Overnight Oats!
Unsweetened Non-Dairy Milk: I love to use an unsweetened oat milk for this, but almond milk, coconut milk or soy milk will all work!
Vanilla Bean: Be sure to order vanilla beans online for the best price!
Instructions
Step 1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, vanilla bean seeds and the pod. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat and allow the mixture to steep for 10 minutes. Then, add the vanilla extract and stir. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator.
Step 2. Sift the matcha powder into a matcha bowl. Add hot water and whisk until the matcha is well combined and frothy.
If you don't have a matcha whisk, use a hand-held frother!
Step 3. Into a small pitcher, combine the non-dairy milk and vanilla syrup. Use a steam wand to heat and froth the milk to about 160*F. Then, pour it into a mug.
If you don't have a steam wand, heat the milk in a microwave and use a hand-held frother to froth it up!
Step 4. Pour the matcha into the mug and serve!
