Caramelized Apples are easy to make, spiced with cinnamon and are the perfect topping for pancakes, ice cream and so much more! Best of all, you only need 5 ingredients and under 10 minutes to make them.
I love to have a few quick and easy syrup and sauce recipes in my repertoire. They are great to keep in the refrigerator to add flavor to just about anything! I like to swirl Blueberry Compote in yogurt, and you can't beat drizzling pancakes with Bourbon Maple Syrup. And Strawberry Syrup makes for delicious and easy drinks!
And while these easy caramelized apples aren't quite a sauce, they fall into a similar category. They are easy and fast to make, and are delicious on pancakes, oatmeal, or even ice cream!

Ingredient Notes
Apple: I used a Cosmic Crisp. My other top recommendations are Granny Smith and Honeycrisp, but any apple you like will work!
Maple Syrup: I like maple syrup instead of granulated sugar or brown sugar. It adds another, delicious layer of flavor!
Non-Dairy Butter: A little bit of vegan butter is stirred into the caramelized apples right at the end. I like Country Crock Plant Butter.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1. First, peel, core and chop the apple into approximately ¼" cubes.
Step 2. Then, place the apples, maple syrup, cinnamon and salt in a stainless steel skillet.
Step 3. Cook the apple mixture over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes, until the apples are soft, but not mushy and the maple syrup has thickened. Then, remove from heat.
Step 4. Add the non-dairy butter and stir until combined. Serve the apples warm!
What to Serve Them With
These Caramelized Apples are delicious with so many things! But my favorites are:
- Use them as an oatmeal topping.
- Or a topping for a tall stack of Vegan Pumpkin Pancakes.
- Use them as a filling for a Fall layer cake like my Vegan Pumpkin Cake!
- Or, my personal favorite, serve them on top of a scoop of ice cream for the perfect Fall treat!
Expert Recipe Tips
I like to chop the apples pretty small for this recipe. But, if you want the apples to be chunkier, that's fine, too! The recipe will still work.
