I think it is safe to say that everyone's favorite baking season is Autumn. There is something about baking the first Vegan Pumpkin Bread or the first batch of Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies on a crisp day!
But today, it's all about the apple desserts. This Vegan Apple Crumble (or apple crisp) is warm and gooey with apples that are perfectly spiced and a cinnamon oat streusel. This is the perfect easy dessert for Fall. Especially for the people who prefer apple desserts to pumpkin!

Ingredients
Granny Smith Apples: I used Granny Smith apples, but I also love to bake with Honeycrisp apples for recipes like Caramelized Apples and Vegan Apple Bread, and I think they would be great in this recipe.
Brown Sugar: Brown sugar pairs so well with warm spices!
Rolled Oats: I like the texture of Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats for this Vegan Apple Crumble, but you can also use quick oats.
All-Purpose Flour: To make this apple crisp gluten-free, substitute a 1:1 gluten-free all-purpose flour. My favorite brand is King Arthur.
Cornstarch: A little cornstarch thickens the juices released by apples during cooking.
Spices: The combination of cinnamon, ginger, and cloves makes this recipe so delicious!
Instructions
Step 1. To make the Vegan Apple Crumble first, peel, core, and chop 1 ¾-2 pounds of Granny Smith apples into 1-inch pieces.
Step 2. In a large bowl, combine chopped apples, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves.
Then, use your hands to toss everything together until well combined.
Next, pour the apples into a greased 8x8 square pan.
Step 3. Then, in the same large bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
Now, add non-dairy butter and work the butter into the dry ingredients using your hands until the mixture is crumbly and no chunks of butter remain.
Step 4. Scatter the streusel evenly on top of the apple mixture, then bake the apple crisp in a 350°F oven for about 1 hour, or until the top is golden brown and the apple mixture is bubbling at the edges.
Serve warm!

Warm the crisp back up in an oven or in a toaster oven.
I like Granny Smith because their tartness balances the crumble out. But I also love to bake with Honeycrisp apples.
No! The baking time is enough to cook the apples through.
Expert Recipe Tips
It can be hard to tell when the vegan apple crumble or crisp is done. Look for a golden brown top and bubbling sides. It should take about 1 hour.
