There is nothing I love more than chips and dip. Whether it's a simple Avocado Pico de Gallo or a cheesy and delicious Vegan Rotel Dip, I can make a meal out of chips and dip.

And this 4 Ingredient Guacamole recipe is the perfect chip dip! Its quick and simple and I made it without cilantro for all of the cilantro haters out there. I'm not one of them, but I still I don't want you to miss out on the top-tier snack food that is guacamole.

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • This recipe only requires 4 ingredients!
    • And you only need about 10 minutes from start to finish.
    • It's vegan and gluten-free, so anyone can enjoy it.
    • And since this guacamole recipe is made without cilantro, even the cilantro haters will love it!
    • And most importantly it is super flavorful and delicious.

    Ingredient Notes

Ingredients needed to make this recipe on a marble board.

Ripe Hass Avocado: I used 2 large hass avocados. If you can only find little ones, no worries! You will just need 3 small ones. It should equal about 2 cups of avocado.

Jalapeño: Jalapeño adds spice and freshness. Be sure to chop the jalapeño up super fine so there are no big spicy chunks. The amount I recommend in the recipe will be medium spicy, so add more or less depending on your spice preference.

Spring Onion: Since this guacamole recipe is made without cilantro, I add a whole spring onion. Not only for flavor, but it adds the freshness that cilantro usually adds to guacamole.

Lime Juice: The juice of a whole lime rounds it all out. I used a whole fresh lime here, but I also love Santa Cruz bottled lime juice.

    Step by Step Instructions

Chopped jalapeño and spring onion in small bowls next to halved avocados.

Step 1. First, finely chop the spring onion and jalapeño.

Avocado, jalapeno, spring onion, lime juice and salt in a bowl with a spoon to the left.

Step 2. Then, combine avocado, jalapeño, spring onion, lime juice and salt in a bowl. Mash with a spoon or fork until it is your desired consistency.

    What to Serve it With

    • Use this simple 4 ingredient guacamole recipe as a dip for tortilla chips.
    • Add it to the top of Lentil Tacos.
    • Spread a thick layer onto toast for a delicious avocado toast.
    • Roll into a Black Bean Burrito.
    • And no matter how you use the guacamole, make some Jalapeño Pineapple Margaritas to have with it!

    Recipe FAQs

How should I store the 4 ingredient guacamole leftovers?

First, scoop any leftovers into a container that has a tight fitting lid.
Then, take a piece of plastic wrap and place it directly on top of the guacamole inside the container. Press the plastic onto the guacamole so that as little air can get to it as possible.
Finally, place the lid on top and store in the fridge for up to two days.

Is it okay to eat brown guacamole?

The brown is just the fruit oxidizing which is completely natural and won't hurt you. It's just like when you chop an apple ahead of time and it turns brown on the outside. So by all means, eat the brown guacamole!

What can I use instead of cilantro in guacamole?

I love to use spring onion instead of cilantro. You still get the herby freshness, with no soapy cilantro flavor.

    Expert Recipe Tips

Be sure to use ripe avocados! If your avocados are hard, wait a couple of days. No amount of smashing will make them into a creamy and delicious 4 ingredient guacamole. Trust me!

And chop the jalapeño and spring onion as finely as you can so you don't get any big chunks of spice or onion.

    Notes

Increase or reduce or increase the amount of spice in this recipe by adjusting the amount of jalapeño you use. Use anywhere from no jalapeño for no spice to a whole one if you like spice!
