This Lavender Gimlet is the perfect easy cocktail recipe! It combines gin, lime juice and lavender simple syrup for a well-balanced, flavorful cocktail anyone will enjoy.

Two Lavender Gimlets in coupe glasses garnished with a lime wheel and a lavender flower.

Easy cocktail recipes are a must for entertaining. They have to be quick to make and they can't have too many ingredients! Some of my personal favorites are my Maple Old Fashioned with Blanton's Bourbon, Lillet Blanc Spritz, and my Spicy Margarita! So delicious, but so easy.

And this Lavender Gimlet is no exception! It is packed with flavor from gin, fresh lime juice and homemade lavender syrup. And, I even like to make the lavender simple syrup a day or two in advance and then I have have a cocktail in minutes!

    Ingredients

Ingredients for making this recipe in small bowls on a marble surface.

Gin: My favorite gin for gimlets like this recipe, my French Gimlet, and my Gin Basil Smash is Drumshanbo Irish Gin. But use your favorite gin.

Dried Lavender: Dried lavender flowers flavor the lavender syrup. Be sure that you get culinary grade lavender for all cocktails and baking recipes like my Lemon Lavender Cake! There should be no added fragrances or flavorings.

Lime Juice: Fresh lime juice only, please! This Lavender Gimlet cocktail only has a few ingredients, so take the time to squeeze the limes.

    Instructions

Sugar, water and dried lavender flowers in a small saucepan.

Step 1. First, make the lavender simple syrup by combining sugar, water and dried lavender flowers in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Bring the mixture to a boil and allow it to boil for 1 minute.

Then, remove from heat, place a lid on the pot and allow the lavender to steep for 15 minutes.

Straining the lavender flowers out of the syrup and pressing them with a spoon to remove excess liquid.

Step 2. Next, pour the syrup into a container through a fine mesh strainer to remove the flowers.

Then, use the back of a spoon to press the flowers to release any liquid they are holding onto.

Pour into a container with a tight-fitting lid and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Ingredients added into a cocktail shaker that is filled with ice.

Step 3. Add the gin, lime juice and lavender simple syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.

Ingredients shaken up in the cocktail shaker.

Step 4. Shake the cocktail vigorously for 15 seconds, then strain into a coupe glass.

Top with a lime wheel to garnish and serve the Lavender Gimlet!

    Recipe FAQs

What is a gimlet made of?

A traditional gimlet is a combination of gin, lime juice and simple syrup.

Is a gimlet served up or on the rocks?

Either! I like to serve mine up in a coupe glass, but you can also strain the cocktail over fresh ice.

Does lavender pair well with gin?

Yes! Gin is botanical already, so the floral flavor of lavender fits right in.

    Expert Recipe Tips

Shake the cocktail for about 15 seconds for proper dilution! Your hands should feel very cold.

I serve this Lavender Gimlet straight up, which means without ice. But, it's also great over ice!
