This French Gimlet only requires gin, elderflower liqueur and lime juice! It is simple, elegant and so easy to make. It is the perfect easy cocktail to serve at any Holiday party or get-together.

Easy cocktail recipes are crucial for entertaining! They need to be quick to make, but also delicious. Some of my favorites to serve are Watermelon Basil Vodka Cocktails, Lavender Gimlets, Lillet Spritz or a Maple Old Fashioned.

And this French Gimlet is the perfect cocktail to add to the list! It only requires 3 ingredients and is shaken up in a flash. It is packed with botanical flavor from the gin and a delicious floral flavor from the elderflower liqueur. So, let's make it!

Ingredients

Ingredients for making this recipe in small bowls on a marble board.

Gin: Use your favorite! I love to use Drumshanbo Irish Gin in all of my gin cocktails, like my Gin Basil Smash!

Elderflower Liqueur: Elderflower Liqueur makes it a French gimlet! I love St. Germain.

Lime Juice: Use fresh lime juice. The pre-squeezed ones never taste the same as fresh.

Instructions

Ingredients in a shaker that is filled with ice.

Step 1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add gin, elderflower liqueur and lime juice in to the shaker.

The cocktail in the shaker all shaken up and ready to serve.

Step 2. Shake for 15 seconds then strain into a coupe glass or into a rocks glass with fresh ice.

Elderflower liqueur is sweet and floral.

Do you serve a gimlet up or on the rocks?

Either! I served my gimlets straight up, but you can strain the cocktail into a rocks glass over fresh ice.

Expert Recipe Tips

Be sure to shake the cocktail vigorously for 15 seconds. Your hands should feel really cold!

If you are making this cocktail for a crowd, squeeze the limes in advance to make the process seamless and fast!
